Deliverables
AT&T THANKS® CRM, Entertainment Promos, Modular Newsletters, Seasonal Hardware Campaigns
01. The Loyalty Voice: Turning Corporate Perks Into Casual Wins
Telecom customer communications operate at massive scale and constantly risk sounding dry, transactional, or legalistic. For the AT&T THANKS loyalty ecosystem and consumer newsletter, the objective was keeping subscriber engagement high by connecting accounts to real-world lifestyle perks such as dining deals, movie tickets, and live event access.
The voice strategy was simple: sound like an approachable friend giving you a casual heads-up on free perks. Rather than talking about “loyalty point redemption thresholds,” the copy delivered immediate punchlines; offering movies for “the low price of zero dollars,” concert access “without being friends with a mega-celebrity,” and restaurant discounts to fund “a second (or seventh) dessert.”
02. Entertainment Billboards: Fast Hooks for High-Velocity Scrollers
Because subscribers scan modular emails in fractions of a second, promotional units for DIRECTV Cinema, HBO, AMC, and U-verse couldn’t rely on long synopses. We treated every standalone entertainment unit like a digital highway billboard; pairing key art with tight, context-aware hooks tailored to each individual title:
Context-Aware Movie Wordplay: Playing off a movie’s title to drive pay-per-view cinema rentals; teasing Spider-Man: Far From Home with “The heroes of summer are not-so-far from home.”
Family Night Vibes: Punchy, rhythmic copy for premier Disney home releases; “Bring the blockbusters to your den” for The Lion King.
High-Impact Scale: Leaning into visual scale for major franchise action; pairing massive kaiju art with “Monster-sized blockbusters.”
U-verse On-Demand Activation: Clean, playful calls to action for multi-generational franchise runs like Toy Story 4.
Tech Comedy Series Finale: Framing the final season of HBO’s Silicon Valley with quick-witted startup satire; “You can’t keep a good start-up down.”
Drama Series Tune-In: Establishing apocalyptic narrative momentum for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead with “Fight to stay alive in a world where no one dies.”
03. Hardware & Holidays: Grounding Tech Specs in Human Truths
Selling hardware and device upgrades in CRM streams often collapses into dry megabit stats and network fine print. We shifted the focus to relatable human moments, such as tying home Wi-Fi extenders and holiday phone upgrades to the exact moments when family bandwidth and gifting anxieties peak:
The Holiday Device Overload: Grounding Smart Wi-Fi Extenders in a familiar holiday reality—“A home full of family is a house full of devices”—framing whole-home coverage around keeping everyone connected at Thanksgiving.
Seasonal Hardware Play: Taking advantage of Halloween themes to turn a dry connectivity problem into a witty visual metaphor: “This Halloween, revive your Wi-Fi® dead zones.”
Brand Campaign Extension: Adapting AT&T’s national “Just OK is Not OK” brand platform for holiday CRM—urging subscribers to upgrade devices and “never forget the look on their face (in a good way).”
04. The Impact
Speed, Wit & Multi-Tier Retention
By treating high-frequency inbox modules with the craft of outdoor billboards, we transformed routine subscriber updates into an engaging touchpoint—driving steady reward redemptions, cinema pay-per-view rentals, and hardware additions across millions of national accounts.
